Bone Appetit – April 25th

Good Morning everyone! Today is April 8th, which means only 17 days until Bone Appetit! At this point, we only have 81 tickets left to sell! If they are sold before the event, unfortunately there won’t be any available at the door. You can buy online, call the shelter and pay by credit card, or send a check. If you prefer to send a check, it will need to be done either this week or next!

One of our silent auction items is something unique…
This is the ONLY item that will be open to the public as well as our guests….it is 10 days in an English Cottage, located in Heytesbury, Wiltshire UK. The starting bid is $1,500…however, it sleeps 6, so the cost per person would be $250 (Plus airfare). If interested call Linda Demuro at (607) 316-3748

Regarding new dog intakes

First and foremost, WRHA would like to thank you for your support! As reported our facility has taken in a large number of dogs. At this time the dogs are being evaluated medically and behaviorally.

Q: Can I put in an adoption application for one of the dogs?

A: At this time we are not able to take applications on any of the new dogs as they still need full evaluations and medical care.  You are more than welcome to place a general application with staff. Don’t forget, we have some awesome available dogs looking for forever families as well.

Q: How can I help?

A: Our staff is asking for donations of detergent, bleach, food (canned/dry), toys, Advantage/Frontline, and monetary donations for care.

Wanderers’ Rest is launching a new and exciting program- e-Foster – this is a great way for someone to get involved that can’t volunteer at the shelter, adopt or foster in their home. All we are asking is for you to use your keyboard to help share an adoptable pet.

The program is simple – just contact the shelter via email and indicate you are interested in becoming an iFoster. We will send you a short email with a photo and description of the adoptable pet. All you need to do is share with your network.

Once the pet is adopted, we will reach out to you with the good news and ask if you want to e-Foster another pet.

If you are interested in joining iFoster, email

Response to recent Post Standard article

We are very pleased about the article in the August 20th Post Standard about Wanderers’ Rest and the work we do to help homeless and abandoned animals. Our volunteers and staff work hard to create the environment that the article describes. Unfortunately, there was an inaccuracy in the article, and it is so central to the organization’s mission that we feel compelled to provide clarification.
