About Us
Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association (WRHA) is an open admissions shelter for Madison County, NY while serving other municipalities such as City of Utica, Town of Augusta and Town of Earlville. We provide the highest quality care and compassion for the animals trusted to us. WRHA strives to enhance adoptability and leading in our community in creating a more humane society.
Wanderers’ Rest serves hundreds of animals every year. The organization accepts the lost, homeless, and surrendered animals from the local community and beyond. And, through its public education programs, the shelter promotes responsible pet ownership and humane treatment of animals everywhere.
Wanderers’ Rest is a non-profit, 501c3 organization that welcomes contributions and volunteers.
What
We Offer

Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association serves the community with Humane Education upon request from local schools, community centers and events and other interested individuals. We strive to provide humane education (age appropriate), responsible pet ownership and what services we can provide to the community in order to help promote and more humane society. Wanderers’ Rest serves Madison County, Town of Augusta, Village of Earlville, Town of Sherill and City of Utica as a shelter for lost dogs.
In order to redeem a dog(s) there must be proof of rabies vaccination and NYS dog license issued in municipality of residence.
For any further information contact the local dog control officer or the shelter.

Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association is able to assist low-income individuals and families in Madison County spay or neuter their pets (cats and dogs only) thanks to funds from the ASPCA. If you are interested in this program, please contact our reception staff at 315-697-2796 or through info@wanderersrest.org
